Tylyn

Tylyn (nee-Robinson/Trask) Piyisiw’Iskwew, “Thunderbird Woman” is a mixed blood Cree Metis from Swift Current Treaty 4, Saskatchewan and Portage la Prairie Settlement, Manitoba, first generation born in Western Canada. She has been Working, Supporting and Advocating for the Indigenous peoples for over 35 years. Her combined work is of traditional teachings, values and healing. She has been a keynote Conference Speaker and Workshop Facilitator on her shared knowledge of Medicine Wheel Teachings, Healing, Cultural Safety, Stereotyping, Drum Making, Residential School; and Intergenerational Trauma, Truth and Reconciliation and Traditional Protocols.

Tylyn’s training and education is a, Bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminology, Assoc. in Social Work. She holds Permanent Certification as a Life Skills Coach, Medicine Wheel Facilitator, Addictions Counselor and holds several diplomas and certificates based on Trauma, Indigenous Studies, FAS, Families Reunification and Conflict Resolution and Resilience. She has worked as an Aboriginal Worker, a Native Courtworker with NCCCA of BC, she has owned and operated and Event Planning business. Tylyn has been honored to have sat on several of the BOD’s: as Vice President for FRAFCA, Executive Committee Friendship Centers of BC, Surrey Diversity Committee, Fusion Festival Committee, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Advisory Committee, Coordinated a Powwow for 12 years. Her commitment to her community is ongoing and evolving continuously.
