Carmen Paola Redunante

Carmen Paola Redunante is a developing artist. She has Indigenous roots from Chile on her mother's side. On her father’s side she is Nisga'a from the village of Gingolx, and her paternal grandfather is Tsimshian from Lax Kw’alaams. Carmen is very passionate about the environment and looks for creative ways to incorporate beauty and hidden messages in her work. She hopes to bring awareness to help preserve our forests, animals, and water.

On her artwork, Carmen says it "speaks about the experience of meeting the Northwest Coast and one of the vital animals: the salmon. Its importance to the environment can be seen every year when the salmon enters the communities and feeds the people, the animals, and the land. It also brings the teaching of respect.

When coming to the Northwest and seeing the beauty that surrounds us, we give thanks to the salmon as it travels from its ocean and rivers to complete the cycle of its journey."
